Roger Dale Knight

     Roger Dale Knight, 75, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born on April 14, 1947, in Murphysboro, Illinois, the son of George and Ruby (Carter) Knight.  Roger married Linda Diane O'Neal in 2000, and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2022. He worked as a truck driver for many years for J.B. Hunt and for Poshard and Son in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Roger also worked for Midland Ag.  He enjoyed Cardinal baseball, and loved watching old westerns. 

      Roger is survived by his father, George Knight of Carmi, IL; his children, Phillip Knight of Machesney Park, IL, Crystal (Ben Fowler) Knight of Machesney Park, IL, Beth Madison of Machesney Park, IL, Melissa (Seth) King of Kokomo, IN, and Ginger Pierce of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Benjamin Fowler, Savannah Fowler, Olivia Madison, Nicholas Marsh, Emily Madison; two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Hannah Pierce; two great-grandchildren, Breiden Dittbenner and Braxten Dittbenner; siblings Larry (Loretta) Knight of Carmi, IL, Dennis (Kathy) Knight of Virginia, Tim (Amanda) Knight of Carmi, IL, Vickie (Gary) Anderson of Norris City, IL, and Janet (Mike) Boren of Carmi, IL; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Linda Knight, Roger is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Knight; a brother, Michael Knight; and a son-in-law, Steve Madison.

     Funeral services for Roger Dale Knight will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at New Beginning Church of God in Carmi, with burial at Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  Contributions can be made in Roger's memory to New Beginning Church of God and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
