Roger V. Daniel, 80, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at his home. He was born January 11, 1944 in Crossville, Illinois to the late Lloyd V. and Lilly May (Cherry) Daniel. Roger married Janice Kay (Morrill) Daniel on March 17, 1961 in Durango, Colorado. They were blessed with nearly 63 years of marriage.


Roger worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Continental Tire for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing pool. He loved spending time outdoors. Most of all, Roger cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his beloved wife, Roger is survived by his children, Dale Daniel and wife, Lynnie of Mount Vernon, Cliff Daniel and wife, Karen of Mount Vernon, and Christy Shook of Glen Carbon, Illinois; grandchildren, Larissa Ilbery and significant other, Cody, Lacey Johnson and husband, Aaron, Michael Shook and significant other, Katelyn, and Alexis Shook; great-grandchildren, Matthew Ilbery, Urijah Ilbery, and Lilly Kay Manzo; one great-great-grandchild on the way; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Morgan and wife, Tonya and Joe Rector and wife, Britney; step-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Morgan, Eli Rector, and Riley Rector; and siblings, Doyle Ray Daniel, Ida Uzell Wildey, and Linda Lou Trout.


In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin C. Daniel and James Lloyd Daniel.


Per his request, no services will be held. Memorials may be made in Roger's honor to Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church.
