Roger Cummins, 66, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 12:21 p.m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO from heart failure related to agent orange exposure during Vietnam. He was born February 26, 1949 in Carmi, IL, the son of Wilburn Leroy and Ella Fern (Puntney) Cummins, Jr. Roger worked in the oil fields as a rough neck and was a U.S, Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Carmi Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Carmi VFW. Roger loved to hunt and fish, his grandchildren who were his world. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by all.
Roger is survived by companion and soul mate, Vicki Lynn Cummins of Carmi; two step sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Kadarh Highwood of Evansville, IN and Josh and Ashley Highwood of Carmi; seven grandchildren, Kaneon, Zane, River, Taylor, Conner, Collin and Annalise; a brother, Richard Cummins of Carmi; two nieces and two nephews, Kenny, Blythe, Tyson and Mandy; and best friends, Rick and Johnnetta Gaffron. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Kelli Cummins, December 28, 1995.
Services for Roger Cummins, 66, of Carmi will be private. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
