Robert E. "Bob" Wilson, 89, of Carmi passed away at 2:21p.m., Monday April 27, 2020 at Wabash Christian Village. He was born in Norris City on July 27, 1930 the son of Raleigh Chester and Julia Fern (McMurty) Wilson. Bob married Rose Lee Carter on January 4, 1954. He started working for the City of Carmi as a Street Sweeper and later became Assistant Manager of the Street Department. Bob enjoyed horseback riding for over 50 years. Some of his favorite places to ride were at Shawnee National Forest and various places in Tennessee and Missouri.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose Lee; daughter and son in law, Debbie and Tracy Haywood, of Carmi; granddaughter, Nicole Marie (Brad) Stroud, of Pittsburg, IL; a sister, Dana Leggett, of Carmi; two brothers, Wayne (Judy) Wilson, of Fairfield and Kenneth E. (Cindy) Wilson, of Enfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Darlene Given, Delores Williams and Aldena Peacock, a brother, William Wilson, his horse, Troubles and dog, Punky.
Due to the National COVID-19 crisis and mandate on gatherings, services for Robert E. "Bob" Wilson will be private with burial in West Union Cemetery in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Bob's memory to Wabash Christian Village Ladies Auxiliary.
