Robert Spence

Robert "Bob" Spence, 82, of Norris City, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at his residence in Norris City. He was born September 13, 1931 in Harrisburg, IL, the son of Melvin Orland and Etta Marea (Delap) Spence. Bob married Margaret Rose Ann Remley September 11, 1952. He was an Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a radio/TV repairman. Bob was a member of Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Ridgway Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Rose Ann Spence of Norris City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Paula Sue and Roger Dale of Norris City, and Jacklyn Jean Spence Browning of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin Gene and Christine Spence of Norris City; two grandsons, Adam and Nicholas Spence; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandrea Healy and Colton Spence. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Healy.

Funeral Services for Robert "Bob" Spence, 82, of Norris City will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church, near Norris City with Rev. Rudy Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery with Military Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from noon until service time on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
