Robert Smith

Robert "Bubba" Smith, 47, of Norris City passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013. He was born in Carmi, IL on February 15, 1966 the son of Donald C. and Thelma Jane (Hedger) Smith. Bubba married Christina Lynn Hafford on April 30, 1988. He was a 1984 graduate of Norris City-Omaha High School. Bubba worked at White County Coal where he was a bradish man. He loved working outdoors and watching his kids play ball.

Bubba is survived by his wife of 25 years, Chris; two daughters, Ashley and Sarah Smith both of Norris City; his father and step-mother, Don and Shirley Jean Smith of Enfield; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dana and Jerry Garlick and Vicki James all of Norris City and Terri and Jeff Trout of Carmi; his mother-in-law, Marie Hale of Eldorado; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was looking forward to the upcoming birth of his first granddaughter, Abbigail Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Jean Smith; a sister, Mary Jane Smith and his father-in-law, Jack Hafford.

Funeral Services for Robert "Bubba" Smith, 47, of Norris City will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Bubba's name to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
