Robert Lewis

Robert L. Lewis, 85 of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday morning September 20, 2015 at his home. He was born January 10, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Herschel and Elizabeth (Kueber) Lewis. He married Betty J. Phelps on December 12, 1953 in Mt. Vernon.

Bob had worked and retired from G.E. in Mt. Vernon. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, the St. Louis Cardinals and Nascar.

He is survived by his sons, Chris (Mary Ellen) Lewis of Evansville and Rob Lewis of Mt. Vernon; and his grandson, Marc Lewis. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; brothers, Marian and Herschel, Jr. and sisters, Martha Young, Joan Loehr and Bette Simpson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday September 24, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Deacon Ed Wilkerson and Rev. Kevin Luttrull officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
