Biography

Robert B. Egbert Sr., age 70, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born July 7, 1942 in McLeansboro, the son of Wallace “Tom” and Sarah (McDaniel) Egbert. He first married Barbara Ann Laswell and she preceded him in death in 1978, he then married Barbara Gill and she survives.

Bob worked in construction out of Laborers Local #561 in Evansville, IN. He enjoyed playing cards and going to auctions. He was a veteran of the United States Marines having served in the Philippines. He was a past member of the Carmi American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Sarah; 3 sons, Robert “Rob” (Tracy) Egbert, Jr. of St. Louis, Steve Finchem of Mt. Carmel and Russell Woods of Carmi; 3 daughters, Becky (David) Becker of St. Louis, Cindy Rymer of Mt. Carmel and Bonnie (Ray) West of Marion; 9 granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson; 5 brothers, Wallace “Wally” (Mary Ann) of Okawville, William “Bill” (Anna) of Summerfield, FL, Leslie “Doc” (Judy) of Frankfort, Larry (Brenda) of Crossville and Mike “Spud” (Kim) of Carmi; 3 sisters, Carol (Van) Naylor of Hillsboro, Glena (Delbert) Kelly of Evansville and Betty Beets of Chickashaw, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father and 1 brother, Edward “Eddie” Egbert.

A visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday March 23, 2013 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Military rites will be conducted at 4 p.m. by the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Juvenile Diabetes or the Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
