Robert E. Dike, 79 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday morning February 24, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born October 29, 1936 in Owensboro, IN the son of Edgar Roscoe and Hazel Irene (Anderson) Dike. He married Mildred "Millie" Odom on September 5, 1958 in Ft. Branch, IN.
Bob retired after 35 years from G.E. in Mt. Vernon. He and his family enjoyed traveling out West and to many other parts of the country. He loved gardening. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and was very active in the youth activities.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; daughters, Cathy Cook of Evansville, Pam Bilskie of Mt. Vernon and Beth (Chris) Boyer of Newburgh; grandchildren, Scott (Holli) Bilskie, Bryan Bilskie, Kurt Bilskie, Garek Cook, Marci Bilskie, Haley Boyer, Leah Bilskie, Cole Bilskie and Brendon Boyer; great-grandchildren, Carter, Ella and Mackenna Bilskie; brother, Fred (Ruth) Dike of Owensville; sister, Brenda G. Dike of Ft. Branch; several nieces and nephews including, Denny and Mark Dike.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Owen Dunn Post #5. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
