Robert Chamness

Robert L. Chamness, 82 of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday evening April 17, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born February 4, 1935 the son of Clyde and Eva (Jackson) Chamness. He married Linda Shamborn on July 21,1961 in Spillertown, IL.
Robert trained Thoroughbred Race Horses for many years and spent the last part of his life shoeing horses. He was a member of the Independent Penecostal Assembly Church in Mt. Vernon, IN and the LaMaster Penecostal Church in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, John Robert (Bobbi) Chamness and Cathi (Sam) Rice; grandchildren, Adam Rice, Johnnathon and Mark Chamness and great-grandchildren, Mariah and Amanda Rice. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday April 21, 2017 at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, IL.
