Robert Blackburn

Robert J. Blackburn 91 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday May 14, 2018 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He was born August 26, 1926 in Mt. Vernon, IN the son of Raymond and Ella (Breeze) Blackburn. He married Barbara Joanne Bauer on September 10, 1950.

Bob retired as an electrician from the IN Farm Bureau Refinery in Mt. Vernon. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a life member of the V.F.W Post # 1114, Owen Dunn American Legion Post #5 and Elks Lodge 277.

He is survived by his wife Joanne; sons, Kirk J. (Sapna) Blackburn of Mission Viejo, CA and Brian J. (Deann) Blackburn of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Robert A. (Dana) Blackburn, Rachel E. Blackburn, Casey Jean Blackburn and Chelsea Jo (Brad) Mercer; great-grandchildren, Brayton, Brenna and Brooklyn Blackburn. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Jr., and Norman and sisters, Rosemarye Griswold and Helen Noelle.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday May 18, 2018 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Owen Dunn Post #5.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to the Owen Dunn Post #5 for their Honor Guard Transportation bus. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
