Richard Cooley

Richard Cooley, 86, of Omaha, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 7:30 a.m. at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado. He was born December 20, 1925 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Oliver Otto and Sadie Nell (Baxter) Cooley. He married Nora Ruth Bryant May 9, 1970. Richard was a purchasing agent and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and May Lodge #718.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ruth Cooley of Harrisburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah June and Robert Eckert of Lincoln, IL and Cathie Edwards of Auburn, IL; two step daughters and their spouses, Linda and Wayne Morrison of Phoenix, AZ and Shirley and Keith Keeney of Glendale, AZ; five grandchildren; Andrew (Rene) Eckert, Jamie Eckert, Danielle Edwards, David G. Edwards and Sarah Jane Edwards; three step grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Welch, Brenda (Jason) Parker and Christie (Dustin) Schaub; four great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Watts of Gifford, IL.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a step son, Charles Williams; a sister, Lila Lee Watts; a brother, Bob Cooley; and a granddaughter, Skye Alisha Edwards.

Funeral services for Richard Cooley, 86, of Omaha, will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Orson Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery in Norris City with Military Rites by the VFW and American Legion. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
