The Reverend Dale Eugene Fulkerson, Sr., 72, of Louellen, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, following a long illness. Dale was born on March 21, 1951 in Carmi, Illinois. He met his future wife, Janice Blevins, at a revival and later married her. He joined her in Harlan County, Kentucky and together they pioneered the King’s Chapel Assembly of God in Lejunior where she remained as the pastor until her death on September 24, 2022. Dale started his career as a farmer in Illinois, he later became a pastor and worked in the lab and outside at the Poplar Branch Coal Company. He also had worked in the Manufacturing industry. Dale enjoyed riding his ATV and spending time with his family and his fur babies.
He is preceded in death by his wife, the Reverend Janice Blevins Fulkerson; his father, Doyle Fulkerson; and a nephew, Ryan Sparrow. Survivors include his mother, Daphne James Fulkerson, Carmi, IL; two sons, Joseph “Joey” Fulkerson and Dale “DJ” Fulkerson, Jr., both of Louellen, KY; two sisters, Darlene Sparrow and husband, Tom, Ridgeway, IL; Beverly Stricklin and husband, Allen, Norris City, IL; his fur babies, Whitey, Roscoe and Whisper; a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Tracy Evans and husband, Tony, Coble, TN; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and other extended family and friends.
His visitation will be held Saturday from 2 until 9 pm at the King’s Chapel Assembly of God in Lejunior, KY. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 1 pm at the Church with the Reverend Ronnie Boggs and the Reverend James Rader officiating. Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
