Raymond Marx

Raymond H. Marx, age 94 of Posey County, died Friday afternoon June 6, 2008 at the New Harmonie Healthcare Center. He was born July 7, 1913 in Posey County the son of Bake and Louisa (Berger) Marx. He first married Fleeda Parks and she preceded him in death on December 29, 1984. He later married Ina Parks and she also preceded him in death in 2003.


Mr. Marx started working at the Shipyard in Evansville, IN, he later worked for Alles Brothers Furniture in Mount Vernon, IN, he started farming after that in Posey County until his retirement. He had been a member of the Posey County Civil Defense and the Posey County Saddle Club.


Mr. Marx is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Malita Marx of Mount Vernon, two daughters and son-in-law, Betty Wolfe of Posey County and Carol and Gary Daws of Posey County; eleven grandchildren, Steven R. Wolfe, Lee Ann Lewis, Diana Beamon, Lori A. Jacobs, Kathy Scarberry, Michael Daws, Brian Daws, Sherri Allen, Ruthie Marvel, Patti Norman and Terri Alsop; seventeen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Shirley Marx of Evansville. He was preceded in death by one brother Clarence and four sisters, Beatrice Feast, Edna Oehlman, Ruth Montgomery Miller and Louise Waldo.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Austin Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at Austinfuneralhome.com
