Raymond Cruse, 87, of Carmi, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 6:26 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born August 9, 1925 in Centertown, Kentucky, the son of Lawrence and Ethel (Smith) Cruse. He married Edna Elizabeth "Betty" Trapp on July 1, 1950 and she preceded him in death on March 4, 2001. Raymond was an Army veteran of WWII and an oilfield worker.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Leanna Cruse of Carmi; three grandchildren, Jon Cruse, Steven and Chrissy Smith; four great-grandchildren, Cade Cruse, Blayne Smith, Jace Smith and Easton Fulkerson; and two local nephews, Ronnie (Kim) Cruse and Rick (Lynne) Cruse.
Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnie and Donald Cruse.
Graveside funeral and burial services for Raymond Cruse, 87, of Carmi, will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi with Miltary Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Friends may call on Friday from 1:30 until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
