Ray Mercer, 69, of Crossville passed away at 1:05 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville, IN. He was born August 16, 1945 in Point Township, IN the son of Hubert John and Annabelle (Jamerson) Mercer. Ray married Joyce L. Callicotte on May 29, 1991. He had worked as a roustabout in the oil field and farmed. Ray was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying hunting, fishing and working in the garden.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joyce of Crossville; four daughters, Michelle Vickers of Carmi, Tara Walden and husband Scott of Thompsonville, IL, Laura Hazlett of Evansville, IN and Kim Jacobs and husband Charlie of Crossville; three sons, Randy Knight of Carmi, Jeff Knight and wife Jammie of Mt. Carmel and Mike Van Horn and wife Beth of Goldsboro, NC; three sisters, Jolene Nelson of Cadiz, KY, Margaret Ann Pierce of Ava, IL and Carolyn Bond and husband Rudy of Tyler, TX; a brother, Clarence Mercer of Crossville; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Baker.
Funeral Services for Ray Mercer, 69, of Crossville will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 at R.I.G. Ministries, 215 Industrial Dr., Carmi. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at R.I.G. Ministries on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made in Ray's memory to Brownsville School and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
