Ralph "Joe" Newman

    Ralph "Joe" Newman, 94, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. He was born on October 14, 1930, in Carmi, the son of Albert and Mary (Waters) Newman. He married Betty (Dillinger) Hutchison in March of 1973. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a truck driver. Joe was a member of the New Beginning Church of God. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW. Ralph enjoyed watching baseball, having coffee with friends at McDonalds and most of all, spending time with family.

   Joe is survived by his wife, Betty Newman of Carmi, IL; his children, Martha Reddick of Albany, GA, Sheryl (Steve) Barker of McLeansboro, IL, James (Alice) Hutchison of Carmi, IL. and Kevin (June) Hutchison of Murphy, NC; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Jane Pitre; and a brother, Edward A. Newman.

   Funeral services for Ralph "Joe" Newman, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. at New Beginning Church of God in Carmi, with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the church. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
