Ralph L. Kincade, 77 of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and formerly of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, died Thursday evening, July 29, 2010 at Gulf Breeze Hospital. He was born on March 30, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Clyde and Selma (Grabert) Kincade. He married Velma June Jackson on June 5, 1955 and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2005 after 50 years of marriage.
Mr. Kincade managed the Production Credit Office in Mt. Vernon for 19 years and farmed in the Mt. Vernon area. After retiring from farming, he and Velma moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida, where he was active in many community projects including representing the Oaks Homeowner's Association in the US 98 Corridor Development Project. He managed beachfront rental property on Pensacola Beach for several years. After the 2004-5 hurricanes, he assisted in the reconstruction of several beachfront townhomes. In recent years, he enjoyed minor home improvement work. A U.S. Army veteran, Ralph served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon. Ralph belonged to the American Legion, Elks and Kiwanis. He was active for many years in volunteer service to the March of Dimes. Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a steadfast friend who never met a stranger.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Kincade of San Diego, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri Jo and James Ash of Edwardsville, IL; eight grandchildren, Evan and Ian Kincade, Karen Cobb, Tara Utsey, Andrea Knight, Ryan, Christopher and Nathan Ash; five great-grandchildren; one brother Charles Kincade of Apollo Beach, Florida; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Eaton and Ruth and John Keitel, all of Mt. Vernon. In addition to his wife, Velma, he was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm. on Thursday, August 5,2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. On-line condolences may be left at www.austinfuneralhome.com.
