"Poppy" Hart

Biography

Glendel F. “Poppy” Hart, age 95, of Enfield, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at Enfield Healthcare. He was born August 27, 1917, in White County, the son of late Thomas P. and Lula (Fields) Hart.

Mr. Hart served in the Army and was a WWII veteran.

He married Frances Elaine Miller and she preceded him in death in June 26, 1998.

He worked for many years at B&W in Mt. Vernon, IN.

He was a member of the Springerton American Legion.
He is survived by three sons, Larry Hart, Stanley Hart, both of Enfield, and Roger Hart of Duncan, OK; three daughters, Dana Smith, Jeanie Palmiter, and Ruth Hart, all of Enfield; thirteen grandchildren, Chris Hart of Carmi, Shannon and Ronnie Ellison of Norris City, Larry and Jennie Hart of Mt. Erie, John Smith of Providence, RI, Jason and Jamie Smith of Norris City, Kathy Miller of Clarksville, IN, Debbie and Joe Bickwermit of Lewisport, KY, Brett Palmiter of Enfield, Theresa Mitchell of Evansville, IN, Morgan and Kathy Palmiter of Owensboro, KY, Rachel and Mike Thibideau of Charlestown, IN, Lauran and Cody Fish and Evan Hart, all of Duncan, OK; twenty-four great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Hart of Leesburg, VA, and Jon Hart of Enfield; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Myra Stevens; a grandson, Steve Palmiter; two brothers, Bill and Dale Hart; a daughter-in-law, Paula; and a son-in-law, Larry.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 1:00 pm at Enfield Cemetery. Pastor Braden Willis will officiate. Military burial rites will be provided by the American Legion and VFW Posts of Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
