Phyllis K. Wilson, 80, of Carmi passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was born in DuQuoin, IL on October 29, 1944, the daughter of William Eugene "Gene" and Clara Elizabeth (Keen) Sensel. Phyllis married Otho "Willie" Wilson, Jr. on June 26, 1990, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2020. Phyllis owned and operated her own pet grooming business in Crossville as well as drove a school bus for the Carmi White County School District. She enjoyed sewing, and loved her dogs, spending her evenings at McDonald's with friends, and watching the extracurricular events of her great niece and nephew, Abe and Anna Girten.
Phyllis is survived by two nieces and a nephew, Anita Bridgeman, Melissa (Brian) Papini, and Josh (Monica) Girten; an aunt, Joan Mandrell; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, George Bridgeman, Helen (Barry) Girten and Kenny "Whip" Wilson; and a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Clara Sensel, her son, Derek Brown on November 21, 1992, a sister, Sandra Jean Sensel-Bridgeman, and a niece, Charlotte Bridgeman.
In keeping with Phyllis' wishes, no service will be held. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis' memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), or your local Veterinarian's Office or pet rescue.
