Phyllis J. Gross, age 69, of Mt. Vernon, passed away July 23, 2012, at her home. She was born August 21, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of George and Elma (Rutledge) Cameron. She married Raymond Gross on September 3, 1960, in Mt. Vernon, and he survives.
Phyllis was a security guard at GAF for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Gross; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenny and Jodi Gross, Charles and Michele Gross, and Michael Gross, all of Mt. Vernon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Roland Briscoe of Wadesville, and Barbara and Terry Wilkinson of McLeansboro, IL; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul Cameron, Richard and Katie Cameron, and Steve Cameron; a sister, Betty Blockson; ten grandchildren, Kelci, Kara, Bree, Terri Lynn, Erica, Andrew, Chase, Lance, Celena, and Dalton; a great-grandchild, Aether Skye; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud; and three sisters, Linda Cox, Annie Chamberlain, and Francie Hobson.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm, August 5, 2012, until 5:00 pm, at the Farm Bureau Shelter House in Mt. Vernon.
