Pearl Young

Pearl Young, 84, of Broughton, IL, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 5:42 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born March 20, 1929 in New Madrid, Missouri, the daughter of Flavey and Edith (Cook) Helsel. Pearl married Julian Kent Young on December 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt.Oval Presbyterian Church and Home Extension .
Pearl is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Jane Young of Broughton; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheryl Young of Carmi; and a granddaughter, Sarah Ann (Matt) Niemeier of Evansville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Delores Carter, Evelyn Braden and Maxine Helsel; and a brother, Carl Helsel.
Funeral services for Pearl Young, 84, of Broughton, will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Beckie Laumeier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Oval Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
Memorial gifts may be given in Pearl's name to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
