Pauline Erkman, 88, of Enfield, passed away at 2:10 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. She was born August 15, 1926 in Springerton, IL, the daughter of Guy and Norma Lorene (Stone) Smith. Pauline married Chelsea Erkman on December 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2012.
She was a farm wife, a member of Enfield Christian Church and the Wabash Christian Retirement Center Auxiliary. Pauline was the pianist at the church from the age of 17 until her husband's death two years ago. They were members their entire married life of 68 years. The piano, her yard and home were her passions, along with her four granddaughters, whom she adored.
Pauline is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Frank Musgrave of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Vicki Erkman of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Mae and Louis Youngs of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Deon and Terry Hall, Kathleen and Joey Fulkerson, Devin and Joey Lane and Lauren and Nathan Whetstone; two step-grandchildren, David and Danyelle Mitchell and Pam and Matt Haywood; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyson Musgrave, Austin Ritcheson, Carly Fulkerson, Jase and Nate Kiefer, Ty, Ashton and Tucker Lane, Isabella Hall and Makayla Blazier; and four step-great grandchildren, Macen and Max Haywood and Seth and Lexi Mitchell.
Funeral services for Pauline Erkman, 88, of Enfield, will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Enfield Christian Church in Enfield, with Fred Leeds and Matt Sutman officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Enfield Christian Church.
Memorial gifts may be given in Pauline's name to Enfield Christian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
