Paul E. Pollard, 91, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 4:30 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born January 31, 1921 in White County, IL, the son of Ellis Ray and Emma June (Lamp) Pollard. Paul married Helen Elizabeth Miller November 15, 1941 and she preceded him in death January 10, 2007. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as a medic, and was at the Battle Of The Bulge. Paul was a farmer and a founding member of the Community Church near Carmi.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Don Pitzer of Evansville, IN; four sisters-in-law, Grace Shook, Eleanor (Vernon) Hubele, and Ethel Stallings all of Carmi, and Carole Pollard of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and a brother-in-law, Harry Ashworth of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandson, Dain Garrett; a sister, Berniece Erkman; and two brothers, Dean and Marion Pollard.
Funeral services for Paul Pollard, 91, of Carmi, will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Joe Skaggs officiating. Burial will be at Bruce Chapel Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given in Paul's name to the Dain Garrett Scholarship Fund, c/o U.S.I. Foundation, 8600 University Blvd, Evansville, IN 47712 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
