Norma Hawkins

Norma Jean Hawkins, 65, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with the lord at 2:26 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Specialty Select Hospital in Evansville, IN. Norma was born June 4, 1940 in Dalton, KY daughter of John E. and Ruby (Barnes) Bailey. Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Martha Sue Ayers and Faye Pollard and a step-son, Joe Boy Hawkins.
Norma Jean is survived by her Husband, Phillip “Hawk” Hawkins of Mt. Vernon; children, Major Dennis W. Hardy and his wife Jeanette of Tampa, FL, Mike A. Hardy and his wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon, Lori A. (Hardy) Modglin and her husband Ed of Equality, IL, Sherri L. (Hardy) Glass and her husband Jeff of Owensboro, KY, Amy D. Neighbers of Mt. Vernon, Jamie R. Hawkins of Mt. Vernon, Jon Michael Sellers at home.; step-sons, Mike Hawkins and his wife Rhonda of Louisville, KY, and Step-daughters, Betty Scheller and her husband Dan of St. Louis, MO, Donna Amelunke and Dennis Healy of Evansville, IN and Becky Stafford and her husband Mike of Mt. Vernon, IN; sister, Brenda Gayle Vanzant and her husband Bob of Mt. Vernon; brothers, John Lee Bailey and his wife Donna of Newton, IL and Donald Logan Bailey and his wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, IN, 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 8, 2005 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 PM at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 East Fourth Street in Mt. Vernon, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday at Austin Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Wiess Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
