Nina York, 91, of Enfield passed away at 3:22 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born March 22, 1923 in Norris City, IL the daughter of Edwin Moses and Ollie Mae (Harris) Spence. Nina married Harold York on December 1, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1994. She was a 1940 graduate of Norris City High School, a charter member of Plainview General Baptist Church and a farm wife. Nina enjoyed being a part of the Red Hatters, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Nina is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steven Lee of Fairfield and Brenda and Fred White of Sumner; three grandchildren, Haylie and Eric Fisher, Barkley York White and Brandon and Kari Lee; three great-granddaughters, Austin Elizabeth, Ollie Rose and Annie Catherine Fisher. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Lee, two sisters, Neva Hardesty and Lela Greer and two brothers, Dalton Spence and Theron Spence.
Funeral Services for Nina York, 91, of Enfield will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Plainview General Baptist Church near Norris City. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Friends may call at Plainview General Baptist Church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial Contributions may be made in Nina's memory to Plainview General Baptist Church Cemetery or Wounded Warriors and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
