Nicolas Jose Correa, 55 of Mt. Vernon, IN. passed away quietly in his sleep on May 26, 2008 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born on March 28, 1953 in Havana, Cuba, the son of Jose Louis Ceballos and Eunice Benita Quintana Perera Ceballos.
Mr. Correa was a self-employed construction worker and had a love of computers.
He is survived by Ella Pate-Correa, his wife of 8 years. His brother Andres Correa of Springfield, IL; his son, Nicolas Scott Correa and wife Linda of Evansville; two step-sons, Kenneth Ashby and wife Blanca Guzman Ashby, of Mt. Vernon, IN; and Jamie Ashby of Evansville; 7 grand-children, Raven Scott and Madison Ashby of Mt. Vernon, Kaleb and Kayla Ashby, Jonathon Monroe and Jashaun Kelley of Evansville, and Cheyenne Sloan of Florida; 2 nephews Jacob Correa, of Springfield, IL and Erik Correa of Evansville, IN, along with several other nieces, nephews and in-laws in the United States , Cuba, and Mexico.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, 6th floor east and west, Dr. Edward Fox, AMR Transport and VNA Hospice for all the care and kindness given in Nicolas’ time of need.
Services will be held at 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. Fourth St. Mt. Vernon, IN, with Bishop Carl Mann officiating. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until service time.
Memorial contributions will be accepted for St. Marys’ Hospital and VNA Hospice.
