(Written by Ruth for her 1989 50-year class reunion booklet): My past 50 years have been full, happy, and rewarding. After graduating from high school in 1939 I attended Lockyear Business College for one year and then took a Civil Service job for the Rationing Board during the war years. My next employment was at the DX Station in Carmi, keeping books. In 1946 I met Ves Foister, and in June of '47 we were married. Ves worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company, and we lived in Flora, IL until 1951. Then we were transferred to Eureka, Kansas. We enjoyed everything in Kansas for 17 years. When Ves retired we moved back to Carmi. We had 14 years of enjoying our home and each other until Ves' death in November 1983. I have continued on alone in our home, living near my sisters and brothers. Even though Ves and I didn't have children, I'm enjoying my nieces and nephews and their children. I keep busy with church work and my hobby, which is and has been through life hand work and quilting.
