Omega Naomi Pool age 88 of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday morning July 25, 2009 at Bethel Manor in Evansville. She was born in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of G.E. and Oma (Grimm) Wood. She married Paul E. Pool on September 22, 1940 at Henderson, KY and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1993.
Naomi was a lifelong resident of Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker and sold Stanley, Tupperware and Filter Queen Vacuums, and achieved national sales awards for many years. She was a member of the Sister Vanhoose’s Ladies Bible Study. She enjoyed gardening and catered many weddings and birthdays. Naomi was a longtime member of Bible Center Cathedral and attended Abundant Faith Church. She loved her children, grand and great-grandchildren.
Naomi is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Paul and Christine Pool of McAllen, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Clyde Guthrie of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Melanie and Dan Wright, Timothy Pool, Meredith and Steve Everson, Matthew and Jennifer Pool, Rodney and April Guthrie, Ryun and Kendra Guthrie and Brock and Amanda Guthrie; ten great-grandchildren and one to be here in December; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jane Burklow and Evoma and Louis Kester all of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Kenneth Wood; and three sisters, Wilma Thomas, Lillian Kingery and Nellie Craig.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday July 29, 2009 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral Home. The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospice, Bethel Manor and Dr. Hatler for their wonderful care.
