Nancy (Ackerman) Winter, 69, of Carmi passed away at 7:55 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Carmi, IL on May 3, 1945 the daughter of Frank Hall and Dixie (Wade) Ackerman. Nancy graduated in 1963 from Carmi Township High School. She owned and operated Fickert Hardware and later worked in sales for Carmi Broadcasting Co. before being elected in 2006 to serve as the White County Supervisor of Assessments. Nancy was a member of Big Prairie United Methodist Church, White County Republican Party and DAR. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Charles Hamblin of Carmi; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Kendra Winter and Ben and Kim Winter all of Carmi; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Bill Weir of Springfield and Darcy and Lamont Ellison of Evansville, IN; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Carol Ackerman of Carmi; five grandchildren, Britany Barnes, Chelsey Devoy, Colin Winter, Paige Winter and Chance Hamblin; and a great-grandson, Bennett.

A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy (Ackerman) Winter, 69, of Carmi will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Big Prairie United Methodist Church with Thad Galloway officiating. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to Carmi White County High School to support the Booster Club and Drama Club and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
