Nancy Louise Kempton

 Nancy Louise (Wright) Kempton, 83, of Burnt Prairie, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Meadowbrook Nursing and Rehab in Grayville, Illinois. She was born on April 10, 1940, in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles Russell and Bertha Emery (Stockton) Wright. Nancy married Robert E. Kempton on August 15, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2002.  She worked as a C.N.A. at Fairfield Memorial Hospital for many years and went on to work as a cook at local restaurants. Nancy was a member of Mill Shoals Baptist Church. She served as a member on the Burnt Prairie Town Board.  Nancy enjoyed cooking, doing cross word puzzles, gardening and loved reading her Bible.

     Nancy is survived by her children, Charlie Kempton of Burnt Prairie, IL, Bertha (Gary) Ward of Burnt Prairie, IL, Wanda (Johnny) Goff of Carmi, IL, Sylvia (Joey) Murphy of Mill Shoals, IL. and  Margretta Reser of Fairfield, IL;  seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Judy Wright. In addition to her husband, Robert Kempton, Nancy is preceded in death by her parents;a daughter, Patricia Humes; siblings, Jessie Wright, Mary Elizabeth Graham, Marvin Wright, Infant brother, Charlie Wright and a half sister, Linda Gillespie.

     Funeral Services for Nancy Kempton will be held at 11:00 a,m, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Mill Shoals Baptist Church, with burial at Burnt Prairie Cemetery in Burnt Prairie, Illinois.  Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Mill Shoals Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nancy's memory to Mill Shoals Baptist Church and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
