Morris "Pete" Phillips, 76, of Norris City passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born January 6, 1939, the son of Alva and Ruth (Duvall) Phillips in Norris City. He had worked in the oil field as a driller. Morris was loved by all who knew him.
Pete is survived by his wife of 44 years, Velma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Judy Phillips and Mike and Carla Phillips all of Norris City; a daughter, Rebecca Parfait of Dulac, LA; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carol Wheeler of Gilman, IL and Sam Wheeler of Norris City; two brothers, Herschel Phillips of Shelbyville, TX, and Michael Phillips of Norris City; seven sisters, Morris' twin, Doris Guinn of Lake Charles, LA; Vera Zigler of Easley, SC, and Ailene Anderson, Marlene Horn, Sylvia Johnson, Barbara Brooks and Kathy Brooks all of Norris City; 12 grandchildren; one special great-grandson, Dakota of Ridgway; and 44 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alva and Ruth Phillips; four brothers, Charles, Wayne, Frank and Everett Phillips; and two sisters, Mary Lou Westbrook and Aldean Smythe.
Funeral Services for Morris "Pete" Phillips, 76, of Norris City will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rick Absher officiating. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Morris' memory to Campbell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
