Mildred Welch

Mildred Irene Welch, 100, of Carmi, passed away at 7:14 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wabash Christian Village.  She was born in Norris City, IL on October 4, 1917, the daughter of Elmer Guy and Alma Ethel (Downen) Leathers.  Mildred married Monte Curtis Welch on March 28, 1935 and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1954.  Mildred had worked as a nurses aide at Carmi Hospital for 27 1/2 years.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Sharon Deckert, of Hobbs, NM and Brenda and husband Harold "Jack" Sasse, of Henderson. KY; daughter-in-law, Glenda June Welch, of Carmi; six grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Rodney Welch on March 17, 1998 and a son-in-law, Lowell Deckert.

Funeral services for Mildred Irene Welch, 100, of Carmi, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carmi.  Burial will follow in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi and starting at 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's memory to Our Savior Lutheran Church or First United Methodist Church of Henderson Relay for Life and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
