Mildred Harper, 94, of Norris City, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:46 p.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born October 21, 1917 in Omaha, IL, the daughter of James Henry and Nancy Lucinda (Brown) Minor. She married Wayne William Harper June 4, 1938 and he preceded her in death November 20, 1989. Mildred was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Norris City.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Harper of Brooksville, FL; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Harper and Phillip and Edna Harper all of Norris City, and Bill and Pat Harper of Little Rock, AR; a son-in-law, Alan Valentine; a sister, Wilma Lou Stickel of Brooksville, FL; three grandchildren, Lisa Hausmann, Teresa Bradley, and Alicia Birkner; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Ben, Rachel and Jordon and a special niece, Ruth Marian West.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Harper; a daughter, Brenda Valentine; a son, Douglas Harper; and two sisters, Marie Blackard and Flora Belle Beam.
Funeral services for Mildred Harper, 94, of Norris City, will be Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Janet Roy officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call on Saturday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mildred's name to the First United Methodist Church of Norris City and will be accepted at the funeral home.
