Michael Smith

Michael M. Smith, 69, of Carmi, passed away on January 24, 2018 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was born on May 9, 1948 in Spring Garden, IL, the son of Luther M. and Mary Eva (Griesbaum) Smith. He married Wanda G. Colclasure and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Smith retired from Elastec. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He belonged to the Carmi American Legion and VFW and loved to work on small engine motors and coin collecting.

He is survived by son, Michael Allen Smith; daughters, Evelyn Murdach, Misty Austin, and Ronda Baylor; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brother, Steven Smith and sisters, Becky Harmon, Donna Joy and Elaine Jeffrey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
