     Michael L. Batteese, 65, of Norris City, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. He was born on March 12, 1959, in Eldorado, Illinois, the son of James Lewis and Norma (James) Batteese. Michael graduated from Norris City Omaha High School in 1977. He went on to work in the oil field. He later worked in Mt. Vernon, Indiana at the grain elevator at Cargill. Michael was a huge lover of music and enjoyed riding motorcycles when he was younger. He also enjoyed watching sports and racing.

      Michael is survived by his mother, Norma Batteese of Norris City, IL; his children, Alicia Dennis of Shelburn, IN, Michelle Batteese of Carbondale, IL. and Samantha Batteese of Norris City, IL; grandchildren, Christian Barger, Jasmine Barger, A'Rian Denis, Millannia Dennis, Hagen Sauls, Braelynn Sauls, Aryana Mannie, Kyra Mannie, Karson Smith and Jeremiah Batteese; two sisters, Deborah (Junior) Goodman of Farmersburg, IN, and Sherry (Jim Fry) Batteese of Hatfield, AR; a special cousin and caretaker, Katie Shepard of Norris City, IL; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James Batteese, and two brothers, Thomas Batteese and, James Albert Batteese.

     Funeral services were held for Michael L. Batteese at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial at Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Autism Speaks and can be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
