Maurene Rietz

Maurene B. Rietz, 98, of Newburgh, IN and formerly of Carmi, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. at Signature Health of Newburgh, Newburgh, IN. She was born April 29, 1915 in White County, IL, the daughter of Archie and Anna Jane (Myers) Becker. Maurene was a registered nurse and educator, having graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School Of Nursing in 1938.. She married John Ludwig Rietz on May 7, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1994. Maurene was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carmi.

She is survived by a grandson, Matthew D. Agan; a nephew, Dr. Richard James of Memphis, TN; the Martinson family and Marilyn Noah-McGinnis.

Maurene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Pamela L. Agan and Margot M. Rietz; a son, John G. Rietz; and a sister, Louise James.

Funeral services for Maurene B. Rietz, 98, of Newburgh, IN and formerly of Carmi, will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Pastor Tom Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maurene's name to Gentiva Hospice, 323 Metro Ave., Evansville, IN 47715 and will be accpeted at the funeral home.
