Marvin Rister

Marvin K. Rister, 94, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 7:10 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on September 29, 1920 in Springerton, IL, the son of Earl and Cova (Tucker) Rister. Marvin married Maxine Day on May 2, 1946 and she preceded him in death March 4, 2013. He was a teacher and retired after 36 years of teaching in the Crossville and Cleveland Schools. Marvin owned and operated Rister Offset Printing and was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carmi, Retired Teacher's Assoc., V.F.W. and American Legion.

Marvin is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Melinda and Monty Applin and Janice McKay all of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Vanessa Rister of Carmi; four grandchildren, Suzanne Mullins, James McKay, Amanda Brown and Bryson Rister; four great-grandchilden; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one grandson, Nathan Lee Rister.

Funeral services for Marvin K. Rister, 94, of Carmi, will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Hammack Cemetery in Springerton with military rites by Carmi V.F.W. and American Legion. Friends may call on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts may be given in Marvin's name to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
