Marvin Mingus

Marvin Russell Mingus, Jr., 75, of Carmi, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 9:28 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born December 24, 1938 in McLeansboro, IL, the son of Marvin Russell and Zelma (Dowell) Mingus, Sr. Marvin married Joyce Hunsinger on May 18, 1980. He had worked in the oilfield and at Ainsbrook Sewing Factory and was a Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Joyce Mingus of Carmi; a step-daughter, Terrilee Michelle Veatch of Metropolis; and a step-son, Randall D. Williams of Carmi. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Melba Gibbs and Francine Cantrell.
Funeral services for Marvin Russell Mingus, Jr., 75, of Carmi, will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Steve McClure officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call on Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
