Martha L. Stewart, 88, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 7:15 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born on April 11, 1927 in Gallatin County, Illinois, the daughter of Manford and Anna (Higgins) Ellison. Martha married William Stewart on August 29, 1945 and he preceded her in death October 8, 1991. She was a member of Bruce Chapel Church.

Martha is survived by three daughters, Sherri (Steve) Duckworth of Carmi, Saundra (Don) Theobald of Richardson, TX and Sheila (Dean) Hosick of Enfield; three sons, Barry (Jeannie) Stewart and Rick (Connie Effington) Stewart all of Carmi and Dannie (Nora) Stewart of Norris City; nine grandchildren, Tonya Hosick, Jill Doneghue, Stacy Rottmann, Crystal Morrill, Ashley Duckworth, Eric Warner, Doug Taylor, Jackie Stewart and Billy Stewart; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; five sisters, Bessie Johnson, Jessie Abbott, Essie May Bartley, Ella Tarrant and Edith Bartley; three brothers, Raymond, Freeman and John Ellison; a granddaughter, Michelle L. Stewart; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Dawn Cokley.
Funeral services for Martha L. Stewart, 88, of Carmi, will be Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Martha's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
