Martha Shockley

Martha L. Shockley, 63 of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday evening December 30, 2009 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 1, 1946 in Union Town, Kentucky, the daughter of Marion and Olivia (Mosley) Shockley.


Martha worked at Gundy’s for 20 years. She belonged to the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church. She enjoyed bingo, was an avid reader, and loved people.


She is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Gloria Shockley of Topsham, Maine; Jesse “Dave” and Rita Shockley of Weston, Florida; Larry and Donna Shockley of Hamilton, Ohio; and Charles and Frances Shockley of Uniontown, Kentucky; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Willie Lafave of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.


Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.austinfuneralhome.com
