Mark Winter

Mark S. Winter, 66, of Carmi, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was born on December 26, 1957, in Carmi, the son of William "Bill" and Marilyn (Hubele) Winter. Mark attended Emmanuel Church as a youth. He graduated from Carmi High School in 1975, where he was very active in sports. Mark then went on to receive a scholarship to play basketball for the SIU Salukis in Carbondale. After college he returned to Carmi and worked in farming.

 Mark is survived by his brother, Greg Winter; nieces, Julie (Chad) Loughrey and Kimberly (Cale) Brooks; a great-nephew, Jack Loughrey; and a great-niece, Lucy Loughrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marilyn Winter.

 A graveside memorial service for Mark Winter will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mark's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, or can be mailed to 609 W.
