Marilyn Nolen

Marilyn F. Nolen, 85, of Carmi, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:20 a.m. at her home in Carmi. She was born March 4, 1928 in Carmi, the daughter of Felix Robert and Rose Elizabeth (Pfister) Finch. She married Robert S. Nolen on November 27, 1947. Marilyn was a bookkeeper/office manager for Nolen Farm Management Service.

The First United Methodist Church in Carmi, where Marilyn was a member for 73 years, was an integral part of her life. She was a charter member of the Beacon Sunday School Class and the Wesleyan Service Guild which later became the United Methodist Women and in her early years sang in the choir. Marilyn had been an active member of her bridge club for 60 years. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Nolen of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Ron Wooten of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jay Nolen and Tim and Jenny Nolen all of Carmi; three grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Jill Wooten and Brady and his wife, Jessica Wooten all of Carmi and Brian and his wife, Alison Nolen of Charlotte, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Everett Nolen and Avery Wooten. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Finch.

Funeral services for Marilyn F. Nolen, 85, of Carmi, will be Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call on Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home and on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorial gifts may be given in Marilyn's name to the First United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
