Marilyn Grace Fulkerson, 81, Carmi, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at Phoenix Rehab and Nursing. She was born October 16, 1933 in Maunie, the daughter of Vuel and Velma (Wilson) Murdach. On August 5, 1950, she married Charles W. Fulkerson who preceded her n death on June 15, 1990.
A lifelong resident of White County, Marilyn graduated from Carmi Township High School, married Charles, and together they raised two sons while being member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Early in her working career she worked in the offices of Henry Fullop and the Carmi High School. She later became office manager of the AMF Tubescope oilfield office in Carmi. In addition, she obtained her real estate agent's license and worked in the offices of Elaine Boren Century 21 and Tom Hall Real Estate selling real estate throughout White County.
In 1989 she was elected Carmi's City Clerk and served three terms until 2001, a position she truly loved while serving the citizens of Carmi and alongside other city employees, local, and state officials. Marilyn also loved her dogs over the years including Curly, Muffin, Scooby, and Trixie and had a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren who brought happiness, love, and may cherished moments into her life.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Carson Lenere, and husband. She leaves behind two sons, Kent "Pete" (Kelly) Fulkerson and Rich (Jill) Fulkerson, four grandchildren, Rae Lynn, Heather, Rachel, and KaCee, seven great grandchildren, a brother Richard Murdach in South Carolina, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Marilyn Grace Fulkerson, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 28, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden. The family requests donations be made in Marilyn's name to Pets At Risk or Phoenix Rehab and Nursing and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
