Marie Vanarsdel

Marie Vanarsdel, 93 of Carmi, passed away Thursday morning November 20, 2014 at her home. She was born April 11, 1921 in Champaign, the daughter of Basil and Clara Mae (Hoop) Satterfield. She first married Bob Manners and later married Joseph Ray Vanarsdel.

Marie retired from the local drivers license facility. She had been a longtime member of the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. She enjoyed fishing, Dancing and loved going to the river camp on the Wabash River. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and her family She attended the Leamington Community Church in Junction

She is survived by 2 daughters, Lana (David) Manners Tucker of Norris City and Debbie (Mike) Nunley of Carmi; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands, 1 brother, Herschel Satterfield; and 2 sisters, Wanda Reid and Josephine McDonald.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday November 23, 2014 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Grayville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
