Marie Ott

Marie Ott, 91, of Mt. Vernon, IN formerly of Georgetown, IL passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville, IN.

She was born July 3, 1917 in Metcalf, IL to Jesse and Ora (Cutright) Hopkins. She attended school in the Chrisman, IL area. In 1939 she graduated from Varner School of Cosmetology in Paris, IL. She worked as a waitress for 20 years at the Shady Rest Restaurant in Chrisman, IL and The Hut in Ridge Farm, IL. Marie married Fred Binkley in 1941and they had one son. In 1956 she married Marion L. (Mel) Ott. She liked to read, crochet and listen to gospel music. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon, IN and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

She is survived by her son, Fred Binkley of Mt. Vernon, IN; two sisters, Eula Binkley of Ridge Farm, IL, Florence Clark of Rockville, IN; three granddaughters, Teresa (Kirk) LaMar of Evansville, IN, Amy (Rob) Grisby of Mt. Vernon, IN, Julie (Jerry) Ammon of Jasper, IN; six great-grandchildren, Justin LaMar and his wife, Holly, Ft. Hood, TX, Megan LaMar of Evansville, IN, Haley and Kendra Binkley of Mt. Vernon, IN, Zachary Hooper, Joshua and Olivia Ammon all of Jasper, IN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was expecting her first great-great-grandchild in February 2009.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two brothers, one nephew and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Austin Funeral Home, with Reverend Tom Heaton officiating. Graveside services and burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery in Georgetown, IL at 3 pm with Reverend Tom Heaton and Joyce Hollingworth officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm, Friday, August 22, 2008 at the funeral home.
