Marie Melton

Marie L. Melton, 84 Winchester, IN, and formerly of Carmi, died on January 18, 2015 at Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Winchester. She was born on February 19, 1930 in Missouri, the daughter of William Wesley and Mary (Bartley) Dodd. She married Kenneth Gerald Melton and he preceded her in death In August 1977.

Marie retired from AT & T. She enjoyed and devoted her life to raising her children.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth (Pat) Melton of Lynn, IN, Danny K, (Susan) Melton of Winchester, IN and Dennis Ray Melton of Union City, IN; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Robert “Bob” (Gertie Browning) Dodd of Carmi, Jason (Janet) Dodd of Enfield and Harley (Carolyn) Dodd of Haytie, MO; four sisters, Shirley Ann Perez of Carmi, Lynn Stewart of Carmi, Ruby Frances Aldridge of Norris City, and Ruth (George) Chaffin of Carmi. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Wesley Dodd, Jr. and two sisters, Minnie Klaffer and Roberta Lucille Hays.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday January 22, 2015 at Union Ridge Cemetery near Norris City. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
