Margaret Lucille Hale, 90, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Carmi Manor. She was born on December 17, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, the daughter of Henry Mitchell and Beulah Mae (Woolsey) Mills. Margaret married Leon Hale on December 20, 1997, and he survives. She worked as a bus driver for Madison County Transit. Margaret was a member of Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi. She enjoyed antique shopping and bargain shopping. However, she enjoyed spending time with family most of all.
In addition to her husband, Leon Hale, Margaret is survived by her children, Mickey (Mavis) Smith and Robin (Cindy) Smith; grandchildren, Jeremy (Theresa) Smith, Tyler Smith and Lindsay (Keagen) Mouradian; great-grandchildren, Regan Smith, Owen Smith and Mila Mouradian; a sister, Dorothy Phelps; several nieces and nephews; step-children, Beth (Roger) Browning, Ron Hale, Colleen (Bruce) Masser, Sheila (Joe) Peacock and Karen (Roger) Hortin; step-grandchildren, Dustin (Kara) Hale, Jennifer (David) Johnson, Matthew Peacock (Marla) , Cheryl (Wes) Clemens and Tyler (Kali) Browning; Step great-grandchildren, Cameron Johnson, Gracelyn Johnson, Olivia Peacock, Andrew Gillihan, Cassie (Derek) Zimmer, Jaxon Browning, Jenna Browning, Josie Browning, and Devin Hale; She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rudy Pyle; a step-son, Stan Hale; siblings, Ernest Mills, Charles Mills, Wanda Hale and Gladys Konkler.
Funeral services for Margaret Hale will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
