Margaret E. (Long ) Gillenwater, 76, of Mt. Vernon, IN died at 3:32 PM, Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born December 17, 1928 in Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania daughter of John and Anna Mary (Bryan) Long. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon and Sunbeam #1 Chapter of Eastern Star and a member of the White Shrine. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Elisha Gillenwater, Jr., March 27, 1999, her parents, a granddaughter, Larri Ann, three sisters, Violet, Laura and Emma and 8 brothers, John, Larry, Claude, Ernest, Melvin, Howard, Clarence and Rudolph.
She is survived by 4 sons, William III, and his wife Muriel of New Harmony, IN, Melvin and his wife Mary Ann of Evansville, IN, Randall and his wife Lana of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Daniel Gillenwater of Evansville, IN; 3 daughters, Margaret Elaine Bebout and her husband Billy Joe of Mt. Vernon, IN, Julie Blanford and her husband Bob of Mt. Vernon, IN and June Ann Zimmerman and her husband Robert of Walkersville, Maryland; a sister Betty Partridge of Mountain Top, PA and 18 grandchildren, William R., Laura, Bryan and Bradley Gillenwater, Melannie Hutchinson, Billy Jr., and Roy Bebout, Krista Kirkham, Tristen and Lindsey Zimmerman, Misti Wagemann, Kristopher Klein, Matthew, Stephan, Braden, Gracen and Landen Blanford and Tonya Stillwagoner. 7 great-grandchildren, Grant, Hunter, Barrett, Dwayne, Austin, Adam and Zach.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Wednesday December 22, 2004 at Austin Funeral Home 1330 East Fourth St. in Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Russ Abel officiating. Burial will be in the Enfield Cemetery in Enfield, IL. Friends may call from 3 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes or the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association.
