Longtime Carmi businesswomen, Margaret Ellen "Timmye" (Timms) Boeger, 92, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1:20 p.m. at Phoenix Rehab and Nursing. She was born September 6, 1920 in Akron, OH the daughter of Ezra Dowd and Daisy Belle (Mariner) Timms. Timmye attended the Siberling School and graduated from East High School in Akron. She went on to attend Ohio University. Timmye was employed by the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C., the State of Arizona and later Capital Airlines in Washington, D.C. She married Kent F.P. Boeger on October 6, 1951 in Arlington, VA and they came to Carmi in 1958. She co-owned and helped operate Mr. Kent's Flowers and Gifts until 2008.
Timmye was a member of the Capital Yacht Club in Arlington, VA, Capital Airlines Fleet Club, Business and Professional Womens Club in Carmi, Carmi Artist Guild, White County Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and St. Polycarp Catholic Church where she was a part of the Ladies Guild and served as the church organist for 21 years.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kent of Carmi; nieces, Janet Burgers James, Barbara Timms and Valerie Timms Taylor; nephews, Leonard Bruce Burgers, Charles Timms and Larry D. Timms.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Elizabeth Denzin and Lois Ann Burgers and two brothers, Charles Frederick Timms and David Timms.
A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Polycarp Catholic Church with Rev. Father Stephen Rudolphi officiating. Burial will be in St. Polycarp Catholic Cemetery. There will be no prior visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made in Timmye's name to the St. Polycarp Knights of Columbus or the White County Historical Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
